Today’s new music spotlight is on Circe.

Location: London

Line-up: Alexa Povey (vocals/synths/guitars/production)

About: Circe is an alt-pop artist, led by an icy, ethereal voice and a penchant for the mystical. She combines dark dramatic lyrics, brooding soundscapes and visceral synth bass to create an otherworldly dimension – as if Kate Bush was exploring the depths of The Upside Down in Stranger Things.

What Hidden Herd say: Circe’s electro-pop world is distinctively brooding and evocative, a place where each accomplished tune is a synth-washed nocturnal odyssey. Wrap your ears around most recent sonic voyage ‘Under My Skin’ and you’ll catch our drift. It recalls its (almost) namesake, the 2013 sci-fi flick starring Scarlett Johansson, sounding like an otherworldly and mysterious jaunt through a city’s dark underbelly.

For fans of: Cigarettes After Sex, Goldfrapp, Kate Bush

Next shows:‪ Circe will play Hidden Herd Presents: Saltwater Sun on Friday 14th September at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in Brighton. Tickets are available via DICE.
