Chris Cornell’s recent passing was greeted with much sadness. The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman left a big mark on the music industry, with a remarkable voice that made him one of the most respected lead singers in rock, and here is his influence in action. Hudson Super 6‘s Phil Wagg. With a little bit of Josh Homme’s unmistakable croon thrown in the mix.
On the Derby band’s new tune, ‘Chelsea Dagger’-ish drums meet bouncy bass and filthy guitars, echoing the random time signatures of Queens of the Stone Age to create something delightfully familiar that you can’t quite put your finger on. But their seasoned sound could be because Hudson Super 6 have been around for about thirteen years – a merging together of members from the molten liquid of alt-rock darlings Cable, Iris and Scribble like a band version of T2000 from Terminator.
They describe themselves as “dark ‘n’ dirty porno blues rock” and there is a certain muckiness to this new one, which might just be the best thing they’ve done so far.
‘LSDH’ is the lead track from their new EP, ‘Ride The Tiger’, which is out on 9 June and can be pre-ordered here. Check out the official video below.
