Today’s new music spotlight is on Prima Queen.

Location: South East London

Line-up: Louise Macphail (vocals/guitar), Kristin McFadden (vocals/guitar), Kitty Drummond (bass) and Heledd Owen (drums)

About: Prima Queen is an all-female indie/alternative rock band fronted by songwriting duo and best friends Louise Macphail (Bristol, UK) and Kristin McFadden (Chicago, USA). Combining vulnerable and nostalgic storytelling with light-hearted lyrical imagery, their bitter-sweet and gritty style draws influences from artists such as Alvvays, Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.

What Hidden Herd say: Prima Queen’s first slice of languid alt-rock is an introduction full of promise: ‘Milk Teeth’ is a gloriously hazy slow-build that starts with a hypnotic guitar line and sleepy tempo before leading to a noisy but dreamy finale. Tune in below.

For fans of: Alvvays, Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers
