Surfer Blood‘s latest track ‘Frozen‘ offers an unexpected kiss of beachside heat this winter, paving the way for what’s expected to be a dream of an album. At stark contrast to this latest release, equally oddly named ‘Snowdonia’ (out Feb 3rd) is the first of their albums to be written and mixed soley by frontman John Paul Pitts since their debut ‘Astro Coast’.
The band tragically lost guitarist Thomas Fekete last year, and this battle (amongst others) is reflected in ‘Snowdonia’‘s tracklist. There’s a sombre undertone, but the music has a juxtaposing quality, often bringing a chipper surface to subjects that are difficult to express. As ever, Surfer Blood deliver the best of hazy, sun-kissed indie with ‘Frozen’.
