Swimming Tapes are back with a dazzling new cut – and it’s probably the best thing they’ve put out to date.

Shimmering, sun-tinged, but laced with sadness, ‘Queen’s Parade’ is an evocative and essential listen from the outset, combining Whitney-ish Americana, lackadaisical licks à la Real Estate and heart-warming harmonies that nod to Local Natives.

The track, produced by Adam Jaffrey (Palace, Gengahr, Leif Erikson), comes from the London-based quintet’s imminent EP on label Hand In Hive. Beneath its dreamy veneer, ‘Queen’s Parade’ is “a pleading note about the state of a beloved seafront street in our home town of Bangor, Northern Ireland. Three of us grew up here and there was a sense you were watching something that seemed very beautiful slowly fade into nothing.”

Swimming Tapes play Coalition as part of The Great Escape Festival in Brighton on May 18th. You can find a breakdown of all ticket types for The Great Escape 2017 listed on this page.
