Today’s new music spotlight is on Yawwn.
Location: London
Line-up: Toby Hasler-Winter (vocals), Rory Jones (guitar/vocals), Mike Barnes (keys/guitar/vocals), Tom Baxter (bass/vocals) and Jack Yardley (drums)
About: A south-west London five-piece blending psych-rock and indie pop. New single ‘Mercy’ is the third single taken from their debut EP ‘Body I’m In’, released 11th August. The band’s three singles – ‘Partisan’, ‘Be A Man’ and ‘Mercy’ – have all been championed by Radio X’s John Kennedy as his X-Posure Hot One.
What Hidden Herd say: Yawwn draw on a wide palette of musical touchpoints to make their unique off-kilter pop concoction – and the result is something tropical-tinged and rousing that’ll keep you boogieing until the small hours.
For fans of: Tame Impala, LCD Soundsystem, Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Next shows: Yawwn play Hidden Herd Festival 2018 – a boutique all-day event featuring a killer lineup of up and coming artists – on Saturday 1st September at The Green Door Store in Brighton. Tickets are available via DICE.
