‘Midnight’ comes out of Brisbane like an ethereal dream; an emotive, haunting track that litters the soundwaves with atmospheric synths and building instrumentals. Azura – AKA Lauren Coutts – has a voice that is delicate and sincere, resting above the track with an almost invincible purity.
With around three years between ‘Midnight’ and her first track ‘Nineteen’, it appears the artist has taken some time to solidify her sound, and the result is one that’s polished and matured. ‘Midnight’ shows depth, and utilises meticulous production to really find the best in Coutts’ voice when married to the lo-fi, pulsing instrumentals that complement this track. This is a strong return for the artist and we’re keen to see where she goes from here.
