Dream Estate‘s electric debut single ‘Half the World Away‘ shows that the 80’s pop resurgence is still well and truly alive. The track oozes summer, throwing a cheery blanket over the nation from Leeds. Whilst uplifitng in sound, it explores a love story tarnished with fears of separation; an interesting, yet effective juxtaposition.

As a debut, the band’s style is well-defined, utilising the best of 80’s songwriting alongside more recent influences such as Bon Iver. Like Bon Iver, there are subtle electronic intonations within more organic elements on the track, effectively modernising a familiar, nostalgic sound.
