Nothing says summer like a windows-down pop banger. The latest release from Gloucestershire brother-sister duo Ardyn is just that – a glinting electro-pop tune that has a whopping feel-good chorus and merges Empire of the Sun‘s metronomic guitarwork, Geowulf‘s hazy 70s-tinged melodies and Oh Wonder‘s harmony-rich pop sensibility. With the sibling twosome all set for a meteoric ascent, we caught up with them to discuss their origins and influences.

‘Together’ is terrific. How did the track come about?

“The idea came about whilst camping in Devon. We had been in each other’s company non-stop the whole year and were definitely feeling a bit fed up of each other as we are brother and sister and the same age! I think together was inspired by the need to put it all behind us and work together.”

How did Ardyn start out?

“We had been playing as a duo under a different name for a number of years and as our sound changed we decided it was time to start a new chapter.”

What inspired your name?

“Ardyn is the name of a family relative. We thought her name was really cool and she is an amazing lady! She lives in a beautiful old cottage in the West Country.”

Top 5 biggest influences on your sound right now?

“I’d say Broadcast, Arcade Fire, Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush and Air.”

Any other new bands that you’ve played with and would recommend?

Bad Sounds are a great band – such good tunes!”

And finally, what does 2017 hold for Ardyn?

“Lots more releases and festivals!”
