Bishop‘s voice is both commanding and powerful, demanding (and deserving) your full attention throughout ‘The River’. Essences of Lana Del Rey trickle through her emotive and sultry vocals, which, when coupled by some simple, sharp percussion and nu-americana guitar, give her a powerful dominion over the LA bourgeois.
Her style makes the most out of minimalist production, making a hell of a racket with only a modest selection of sounds. Many could compare her to artists such as Lorde, who command the stage with a similar poise, yet Bishop edges ahead with a little more vocal authority.
Clocking up a significant number of plays in the last 5 days, we can expect ‘The River’ to open a lot of doors for Bishop in the first half of 2016.
