There are a few notable hip-hop artists breaking through London’s vibrant scene, but few can throw down a narrative quite like Ashley Shakur. Whilst most rely on over-the-top and heavy-hitting instrumental tracks, Shakur’s flow resonates as both a captivating storyteller, and melodic lyricist.

His lyrics are simplistic yet relatable, and Shakur isn’t afraid to throw his voice around a little to complement tender instrumental licks. Like Kendrick, his voice is more than just a dictaphone, and his ability to carry a chorus will help break him through in a scene that has seen so much similarity of late.

‘Nokia’ is the first track to be released from his forthcoming debut EP ‘Hare This‘, released 29th February.
