BILLIONAIRE – the nom de plume of John J Sterry – is back with another dose of brooding bedroom pop. New track ‘Next Year’s Model’ is an infectious night jam, the sort you imagine was dreamt up and put to tape after sundown in a makeshift studio full of sprawling shadows.

Like first offering ‘Fine Minds’ that we fell for back in spring ’15, there’s an air of Glass Animals about the London songwriter’s sophomore single, albeit if the Oxford band binged on nothing but ‘Disintegration’-era Cure. Dubby bass backs Sterry’s intertwined lyrics, before building to an R&B-like refrain with tropical lilts and guitar that ripples like the sea.

Having already prompted a hat tip from Huw Stephens, ‘Next Year’s Model’ is released independently via EXYT today and looks set to further cement BILLIONAIRE‘s place as a thrilling new prospect.
