‘Death & Taxes’ is an incredibly soulful ballad, quivering with a similar heartfelt emotion to Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. With enough texture to bring a modern edge to old-school RnB, Daniel Caesers‘ music shows impressive depth and candour (his other latest track ‘Paradise’ was also released 5 days ago, and has already amassed 41k plays at the time of writing).
The Torontonian is certainly drawing a crowd. From the popularity of his back catalogue, it’s evident that he’s capable of holding the attention of fans on the hunt for new music, and the quality of his songwriting is consistent throughout. On a more global scale, he’s up against a lot of competition (notably the previously featured Samm Henshaw), but his dynamic approach should shine through.
