Here’s some grizzly, 90’s inspired rock to churn you through the post bank holiday slump. Leeds quartet FURR follow on from the exceptional success paved by Royal Blood, showing that the UK are eager for an unpretentious rock revival.
Their sound is loud and delightfully melodic, throwing nods to genre-pioneers Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age. Not afraid to experiment with tastefully layered vocals and some higher phrases from Jack Byrne (floating somewhere between Josh Homme and Rivers Cuomo), they have us thinking both nostalgically and towards the future of rock. ‘Think Sharp Kid’ is an affirming opener for FURR, having already been played on Radio 1 and Radio X.
