Today, our new music spotlight is on Acrylic

Location: Glasgow

About: The post-punk quintet Acrylic kicked off 2019 with a bang, securing support from Clash Magazine, M Magazine and picked up airplay from BBC Radio Scotland and BBC 6 Music.

Acrylic formed in 2014 when the 4 members moved to Glasgow for university. Since then, the indie ensemble having been leading the Glasgow’s music scene with their distinctive live shows. The crisp guitar chords set against melodic lead vocals has already led to Acrylic selling out Glasgow’s prestigious King Tuts and supporting The View, Demob Happy, Palace and The Ninth Wave.

Now returning with another melodic indie anthem ‘Post Punk For The Abyss’ June 14th, bursting with jangling guitars and well-crafted vocals, 2019 is set to be the Glaswegian five-piece’s biggest year to date.

What Hidden Herd say: ‘Post Punk For The Abyss’ begins with an apt sense of depth, bathing the listener in oceanic guitars and Christodoulidis’ comforting baritone. The result is a ballad that ebbs and flows with a liquid quality, keeping you coming back time and time again. Let yourself get swept away in the waves.
