Today, our new music spotlight is on AyiTe

Location: London

Line-up: Solo Artist

About: AyiTe is a London based rapper, producer and one half of Alternative HipHop duo Soul Purpose. Inspired by the likes of Kano, Pharrell, MF DOOM and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, AyiTe is carving his own lane with his genre-bending sound.

Experimenting with elements of jazz, soul, electronica and subtle hints of grime, he captivates audiences with his smooth delivery and sharp, poetic lyricism. Offering an introspective look into the artist’s mind, AyiTe touches on issues regarding wealth, relationships, identity and the pursuit of success. Backed by raw beats and refined, forward thinking production, he puts his own fresh spin on the rap genre with a nod to classic HipHop of the 90’s and early 00’s.

What Hidden Herd say: London artist AyiTe’s debut has entered the scene with an undeniable confidence; a flow and musical maturity usually reserved for artists that take the time to find their feet before carving out a name for themselves.

‘Smoke&Mirrors’ comes as the evident result of a clear creative vision, blending both classic and modern flavours of hip hop and jazz to create a track that has mass appeal, whilst representing an export that is undeniably British in it’s delivery.
