Today’s new music spotlight is on Beachtape.
Line-up: Rory Sear (vocals/guitar), Dan Mcauliffe (guitar), Andy Kemp (bass), and Leo Kenyon (drums)
About: Punk Slime Recordings quartet Beachtape originally formed as a DIY recording project by Rory Sear (vocals/guitar) and Leo Kenyon (drums) in 2016, later recruiting Dan Mcauliffe (guitar) and Andy Kemp (bass) to start playing shows after recording their first song. After self-releasing a few tracks via their SoundCloud and Bandcamp pages, they unleashed their debut EP ‘Hold Music’ – which included early single ‘Rearranging My Ways’ (produced by The Magic Gang’s Kristian Smith), “Through & Through” and “Slow” – and it quickly gained the attention of DIY, The Line of Best Fit and Clash.
What Hidden Herd say: Beachtape’s sun-bleached grunge-pop is laced with fuzzy hooks aplenty and brand new lo-fi nugget ‘Fix It Up’ is no exception, delivering some of their finest bleary-eyed refrains and hazy licks to date.

Next shows: Beachtape play Hidden Herd Festival 2018 – a boutique all-day event featuring a killer lineup of up and coming artists – on Saturday 1st September at The Green Door Store in Brighton. Tickets are available via DICE.
