Brass Phantoms‘ latest track ‘City of Wolves‘ represents the welcome return of disco-indie – a sound that shaped bands throughout the 00’s and got indie to where it is today. A track for the masses, it has an anthemic quality that could be blasted out from festival stages and car radios alike.
Channeling indie-poppers Two Door Cinema Club, the track has a lucid complexity – all quivering guitar licks and precision-perfect percussion – which combine to create a track that is effortlessly listenable. It’s no easy task to balance such elements and not lose mass appeal. For a band so early on in their journey, it shows a maturing sound, as told by the band themselves: “We hope it’s a track that can help us to grow, because we have a lot to come”.
