Today, our new music spotlight is on CHILDCARE

Location: London

Line-up: Ed Cares (Vocals), Emma Topolski (Bass, Vocals), Rich Le Gate (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Glyn Daniels (Drums, Backing Vocals)

About: CHILDCARE follow the slinky art-rock of Put Down Your Pen and the bold and brooding Big Man with the perception challenging skittish groove of ‘Magazines‘ – completing the set of singles taken from their new EP Luckyucker, both out 13th July via Elephant Records.

“On the way to Hampstead Heath last year I noticed a Big Issue seller who looked different from normal; a well-spoken, middle aged, white and middle class woman” frontman Ed Cares explains, “This song is about the surprise of seeing someone from my tribe selling the magazine on the street, the realisation that any of us could end up there, and the guilt of feeling a particular sympathy towards her.”

What Hidden Herd say: In true CHILDCARE fashion, ‘Magazines‘ grabs its listeners from the first beat and refuses to let go. Their trademark of uber-melodic lo-fi transcends typical genre cages, giving them a refreshingly alluring originality in today’s scene.
