‘Run for Cover’ begins with some delicate harmonies, luring you into a 90s inspired track dripping with Albarn’s wistful vocals and The Stone Roses‘ unshakeable catchiness. Sitting a little outside of their usual musical remit, New Carnival‘s latest track shows a grittier edge to the band, bringing a more dynamic offering to their arsenal for 2017.

The track’s plentiful vocal hooks lay listeners up for erupting choruses and instrumental breaks; the kind of song that would see fans across the country singing together in sweaty unison, be it in a pub basement or the fields of Glastonbury. Having made Annie Mac’s ‘New Names’ on Radio 1, as well as garnering impressive cover from Consequence of Sound, The Line of Best Fit and Clash Magazine, ‘Run for Cover’ has certainly started the year on a high for New Carnival.
