It only takes a little taste of ‘Honey’ for us to conclude that 2017 will be a fruitful year for emerging Brighton band Orchards.

This, their most recent offering, sounds like ‘Antidotes’-era Foals being fronted by Gwen Stefani circa No Doubt and firmly cements the Sussex quartet’s place as ones to watch.

With glossy refrains that recall Fickle Friends and wonky time signatures that doff their hat to Dutch Uncles, the track is a piece of gleaming math-pop that bridges the gap between direct and intricate.

Like Londoners FOURS and fellow Brightonians EPISODES, complex rhythms and off-kilter lilts are interspersed with earworming hooks and glossy guitar licks, and the result is something both credible and accessible.
