Today, our new music spotlight is on Pelicandy.
Line-up: TC Beecham (vocals, guitar, synthesiser, keys), Junior Cobbinah (bass guitar, backing vocals), Nick Mills (drum kit, drum programming, backing vocals)
About: London based Pelicandy make synth-driven alternative pop music that sonically takes on the fibrous and earthy aesthetic of their basement studio, still frozen in time since the mid 1980s. Ambitious lyrical hooks are driven home by unapologetically bold arrangements, setting this band apart most notably in their blistering live show. Following on from being featured on BBC Introducing London’s ‘Best Of 2018’ list for their second single ‘Waiting Room’ the band now bring forth ‘Silent Treatment’ – the first in a string of releases planned for 2019.
What Hidden Herd say: ‘Silent Treatment’ succeeds in translating Pelicandy‘s greatest asset (their undeniably contagious live allure) direct to listeners’ ears; a smooth, swooning track that tickles 80s fancies and douses speakers in liquid gold.
