Today’s new music spotlight is on Phantom Isle.
Line-up: Peter Marchant (vocals/guitar), Matthew Marchant (vocals/synthesizer/guitar), Sam Thorne (vocals/drums), Josh Pullen (vocals/synthesizer), Jonny Longland (bass)
About: Raised in Northampton but now based in London, childhood friends Phantom Isle established themselves in 2017. The band’s music is slathered in sun-drenched guitars, soaring vocals and urgent synths reminiscent of Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco and Mild High Club. Phantom Isle‘s former 60s vintage styling has been dragged through the era of 80s synth-pop to create a dynamic, distinct sound for the reflective generation.
What Hidden Herd say: Hazy psych lilts, ginormous hooks and kaleidoscopic synths… what’s not to love? Phantom Isle’s HUGE new single ‘Four Walls’ captures everything that’s magical about the band and packs it into four minutes of guitar-pop bliss.
For fans of: Suede, Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco
