Today’s new music spotlight is on Roost.
Line-up: Maurice Wright (guitar/production)
About: Roost is a mysterious new solo project from Brighton’s Maurice Wright. After his most recent band parted ways – a gang of four whose blurry shoegaze-tinged rock graced Hidden Herd earlier this year – the multi-instrumentalist has unveiled the darkly eclectic ‘Waste’. The debut offering is, in Maurice’s own words, the product of “hanging out with too many goths in the graveyard” and represents an exciting sonic departure from his previous work – wrap your ears around the premiere below.
What Hidden Herd say: Roost’s brooding opener is an experimental and impressively ambitious first foray, conjuring a murky post-punk darkness with electronic beats, curious samples and big swelling guitars.

Next shows: Roost does not have any upcoming events, but stay tuned for the launch of a full band soon.
