Today’s new music spotlight is on Vanity Fairy.

Location: Suffolk

Line-up: Daisy Capri (vocals/all instruments)

About: Vanity Fairy is the new solo project of solo artist Daisy Capri.

Her debut single, ‘He Can Be Your Lady’ (released October 2018) was described by CLASH as “a remarkable post-disco jewel”. The track was picked up by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens after it became the No.1 most blogged about track on Hype Machine, and featured on NME’s New Bangers playlist on Spotify and Apple music.

Capri describes her music as “nostalgic fantasy”, saying it’s “sincerely sentimental. I’m trying to make myself remember memories I don’t necessarily have; feel things I don’t necessarily feel; believe in the unbelievable”.

Her forthcoming EP, “Lust For Dust”, was written and mostly recorded at Capri’s home, where she co-produced everything alongside collaborators Sammy Yamaha and Simon Byrt (Pixx, Babeheaven).

What Hidden Herd say: Thanks to a distinctive retrofuturistic aesthetic and more wonky hooks than you can shake a stick at, Vanity Fairy‘s dreamy soft-focus disco captures the imagination and sears itself into the brain.
