Anyone who has been enjoying the wave of Afrocentric electronic music from the likes of Clap!Clap! and Romare, should lend their ears to Simon Oliver. ‘Abur Pore Ki Lajwa’ is a fine example of hypnotic halfstep that percussion lovers will find hard to resist.

A vast archive of Ugandan field recordings, made by mid-century ethnomusicologist Klaus Wachsmann, are the starting point for Oliver’s upcoming EP. It’s safe to say that we’re excited to see what the London producer will do with this veritable treasure trove of captivating rhythms and harmonies.
