‘Shadow Play’ dances between flits of folk and americana, taking much inspiration from harmony-affluent bands such as Dry the River, both musically and vocally. The lead singers’ falsetto-privy voice is both strong and delicate, confidently leading the track and conveying a sense of sincere emotion.
Winter Hours have certainly nailed a sound that appeals to the masses, similarly to artists such as Band of Horses that have a unique, beguiling essence to their music that doesn’t require any premise to enjoy.
The London-based 5 piece certainly aren’t afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves, and have a particular essence about them that screams for an exceptional debut album. We’re eagerly waiting.
‘Shadow Play’ is taken from the Wild Shadows EP, available now.
